This is a sound i created by using three different things. I recorded my bathroom fan and altered the pitch, added a few cents and overlayed them at 50%, and added a band-pass filter. I also recorded batteries rolling across the bottom of a drawer, lowered the pitch a bit, and added a high pass filter. And then lastly i added some wind that i created by blowing into my hands. That i did not adjust at all. It sounds just like a thunderstorm.

This was recorded while sitting in a closet during a tornado warning as a thunder-storm raged outside the house. It was recorded on april 28, 2020 in tulsa, oklahoma. There are several very low frequency booms from the deep thunder. You can hear the faint sound of tornado sirens blaring outside. There is also the intermittent sound of panicked breathing by one of the two dogs that were also riding out the storm, sheltered in the closet. A rumble of thunder from a storm over 50 miles away over the irish sea from an mcs during july 2016. The atmospheric conditions of that night, along with the lack of other noise allowed sounds to be heard much further than they normally would. The main reason was likely due to a strong temperature inversion close to the ground. Recorded with zoom h4n onboard mics.

Nature, and man-made machines, wake up on a saturday in a small town in southern illinois. Even though getting "away from it all" and experiencing nature in the deep woods, or a quiet field is very enjoyable, let's not forget that nature often lives and thrives side-by-side with us. I recorded this in my back yard on saturday april 27th, 2013 at 6:45 am and you'll hear the low, but everpresent low rumble of a distant train throughout. But, over and above you hear the incredible variety of calls and sounds made by a family of starlings who seem oblivious to the iron horse and the occasional car. We had rain the night before, so every now and then you hear a loud "plop" as a breeze cuts loose fat rain-drop and it hits the foam wind-screen on my h4n. Starting at around 3:47 and running to 4:08 a cardinal makes a strong appearance. This clip was made because i was looking for a strong thunderstorm sound effect for a school play. I wasn't able to find one that was strong enough for what i wanted, so this. Mp3 was made in audacity from three other audio files from freesound - they are #s 27247, 2521, and 87472. This information is also in the 'comment' metadata of the mp3 file. As far as i can tell, this is the "strongest" storm available on freesound as of early february 2010. (i could be wrong of course!). This is one coqui singing alone. The file was remasterize to eliminate other insects and noise sounds. Was recorded in the west of puerto rico island in the caribbean on june 19, 2022. A curiosity not too many people notice is that the individuals and species sing at different hours of the night and are affected by temperature and humidity. Rain increments the volume and intensity of frequency of the different species, some days one to 3 species can sing. Others you can hear up to 6 species in conjunction with other types of none arboreus frogs.

I found this fairly small low area, in deep woods, with about 5 inches of water in it. I wouldn't really say it is a pond because it will probably be dry in a month or so after the spring rains. (i think ecologists would call this small body of water an "ephemeral" pond). These spring peepers were putting on quite a chorus as the sun was going down. You'll hear a different sounding frog - or peeper - several times in: at 9 seconds in, 13 seconds in and 15 seconds in. When i first heard it, it sounded like a creaky door! hope you find this fascinating and enjoyable as well. Would make a great soundtrack for a swampy piece. A beautiful, ancient sound of a small creek flowing in a heavy midwestern forestafter a late autumn day of rain. (recorded on sunday november 30th, 2019)this particular " scene " is the result of a 2 inch deep flow of water suddenly dropping over several medium-sized old rocks. In a few days, this flow will cease and the creek-bed will revert back to its typical, meandering , dry rocky path through the woods. Enjoy. From 1:00-2:00in the sky a long way behind me and to the left, but somewhat far in the air, a group of birds are fighting above a large group of trees that are shaped like a ball of veins. Most of the birds are crows, or just black birds; each noise they make is a series of “caws” no different from each other in pitch, tone, or frequency. There's also the sound of 3 small birds directly to my right around 5 meters away from me, making loud but shrill chirping sounds. The birds are each the same size but and are hopping around the perimeter of a cactus right behind them. The wind blows onto the right side of my body and the front of my body. Waves from the ocean are crashing directly behind me, each in long sessions. The way they sound is consistent, like the sound of rain. Occasionally one of the waves will crash, increasing in volume but not in pitch or tone.

The river flows and turns through a narrow, high, partly exposed bedrock canyon which likely amplifies the sound of the rapids. The first nine seconds are unedited.
